The New Me Program, was created by, Loree Boyd to help women in her community who are in the process of rebuilding their lives. With the help of local Domestic Violence Programs, they are escaping the cycle of domestic violence.
The New Me, program provides professional PMU services at no fee. It's one way we can use our skills to help bring back a smile to survivors face, a twinkle to their eye, or maybe even a beauty mark, representing the strength and beauty of their spirit. It is also our way of showing the professional organizations and individuals who helped these women and their children get out of a life-threatening situation, thank you.
Loree says, "I believe, we all are born with a skill, gift or talent. And we can chose to honor our skills, gifts, and talents by giving back to our community in our own unique ways. It is a way of saying both thank you for helping our family, and now helping other families in our community become stronger. In turn, we all become stronger. Let's teach our children the importance of community involvement, by getting involved."
Loree hopes that the, New Me program will become a prototype inspiring other PMU artists across the country to become a part of the program. So far, she has got a great deal of enthusiastic feedback from across the country and soon, other PMU businesses will be offering, New Me, services in their area.
Loree has created a blog, which is located at the bottom of the home page, where you can read more about the New Me program, domestic violence prevention, stories from both men and women who have survived domestic violence, as well as other related topics.
As a final note, Loree added, "I worked for a cosmetic dentist named Dr. Knudson in Bellingham, WA for many years. He was the first dentist in Washington State to become a part of the "Give Back a Smile," program. It has gone on to help give back a smile to thousands of women across the country. What a beautiful gift. I hope no matter what type of business you own you'll consider getting involved, whether its providing printing services for resumes, or a cup of coffee a participant can drink while out applying for jobs. No gift is too big or too small."
In addition to being a PMU & SMP artist, Loree is a published author with a background in documentary filmmaking. You can read more about the reasons why she was inspired to start the New Me program in the OrigiNative Blog.
